We also understand that to better serve people in our community a building is a great tool for ministry. We have intentionally designed this building to serve in a multi-purpose fashion. Our auditorium doubles as a gym where we envision after-school and weekend events for local youth as well as our church family. We would like to use our classroom spaces for tutoring programs during the school year. We foresee our large foyer area being used for various gatherings including open-mic nights. In the winter months, we hope to participate in Safe Nights, providing a warm, safe place for homeless to spend the night. This new facility will serve as the base of operations for our Heart F.E.L.T program providing supplemental nutrition to school children in Calvert County. Our grounds are being designed as well to be enjoyed by our community including nature trails, a picnic area, and playground.
Last night, Calvert County Planning and Zoning unanimously approved our project pending final comments being addressed. We want to give God the glory for bringing us through this process so far. It has taken nine months to get to this point. Once all comments are addressed and final approval is given, we may apply for a building permit. Construction will begin as soon as we raise the necessary down payment to secure financing.
