Steve Forrester and Dave Mohler have been friends for years and were serving as pastors in separate ministries within Calvert County. They would meet to pray and encourage one another and through that time of fellowship it became clear to them that God was calling them out of there comfort zone and to do something different, He was calling them to plant a new church.
Steve and Dave, along with their wives, stepped out in faith in the fall of 2010 and with no promise of help or support from any other church or organization; they each resigned from their ministry positions at their respective churches. They were joined by members of their families and a small group of friends who were willing to take this leap of faith with them and on January 9, 2011, Life Church Calvert held its first service at Plum Point Elementary.
Pastor Steve Forrester
Steve is daily humbled and amazed by God’s love, grace, and mercy. He is excited to serve alongside the wonderful people at Life Church Calvert.
During Steve’s 25 years of ministry, his heart has been to see people find a relationship with Jesus Christ and grow in their faith. He loves teaching and tries to do so simply, straightforwardly. Steve believes, “Our focus as believers should never be on the personalities of our church leaders but on the person of Jesus Christ! Life Church Calvert exists to love God and love people. We want to see Calvert County transformed by the reality of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!“
Pastor Dave Mohler
If you asked Dave Mohler what the greatest thing about Life Church is, he would unhesitatingly say it is experiencing the awesomeness of God:
“God is an awesome God,” he says, “and He is truly doing something amazing at Life Church. Who would have imagined that a handful of followers would have grown into the worshiping and serving community Life Church is today? It is a joy to worship and serve with the gifted and caring people God sends to build His Church.“
A teaching pastor and counselor at heart, Dave is passionate about cultivating hope and trust in the power of Christ to change us, restore us, and enable us to live as devoted followers of Jesus Christ.
