This past week a series of violent tornadoes wiped out homes and businesses across Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, Georgia, North Carolina and Virginia. Entire towns were leveled; more than 300 people were killed; and many families suffered the loss of their homes. It was the greatest loss of life from tornadoes since April 1974, when 315 people were killed by storms that swept across 13 Southern and Midwestern states.
Immediately after the deadly storms hit, Samaritan’s Purse responded to the most devastated areas by deploying Disaster Relief Units in Tuscaloosa and Birmingham, Alabama.
Last month Life Church partnered with Samaritan’s Purse to help bring much needed assistance to those in Japan. God has now given us another opportunity closer to home. This is the Church’s time to step up, reach out and show Christ’s love to our neighbors. Let’s not neglect it.
