Building Life Together Announcement

In 2010, God called two pastors and gave them a vision for planting a church in Calvert County. This vision was not simply to establish another church, but to be a place where real people could experience real life.

A church where people experience God’s love and the love of others in real community. To be a church where worship was a way of life, not simply a part of a Sunday morning service. A church where the broken are mended. A church where people are equipped to fulfill their God given purpose and sent into a world that needs Jesus.

It would be called Life Church Calvert.

In the fall of 2010, those two pastors stepped away from their previous church leadership positions and spent the next several months preparing to plant Life Church, which held its first worship service at Plum Point Elementary School on January 9, 2011. From the beginning, God blessed the church with capable and gifted fellow servants. Over the course of the next six years, God also blessed Life Church with many opportunities to serve our community and brought to the church dedicated fellow believers to help answer His call.

In 2013, God led our pastors to a beautiful parcel of property in Huntingtown, MD, on which a suitable facility for this growing church could be built. Through the sacrificial giving of the church, along with friends and family members within the community, the necessary down payment was provided.

For the past year, our Campus Development Team, consisting of Eric Hofer, Dave Sneade, Kevin Weimert, Pastor Dave, and Pastor Steve, has been meeting to formulate a plan to provide a home for Life Church Calvert.

The Campus Development Team has taken the vision articulated by our pastors, along with input provided by our church team leaders, and has together with our site engineer, our bank, and our general contractor, Church Development Services, worked to formulate a tentative strategy for seeing the dream of a permanent facility for Life Church Calvert become a reality.

We have commissioned the design of a modern, multipurpose building capable of being used for a variety of church and community events. It will be built in two phases. Phase One will be approximately 10,000 square feet and is tentatively scheduled for construction to begin in 2018. Phase 2, tentatively scheduled to begin in 2020, will bring the total size of the complex to 16,000 square feet.

In April of 2017, we began the process of securing permits to construct our new facility on our property at the corner of Routes 2 & 4 and Cox Road in Huntingtown, Maryland.

Today we present to you the concept drawings of the interior and exterior of the new home of Life Church Calvert.

The cost to complete Phase One of Life Church’s new home is $2,200,000. Nearly $1,000,000 of that total is for site work to prepare for the building. The building itself will be the balance. This project will require a deposit of $575,000 in order for us to secure financing for the remainder of the project. Some families and individuals have already begun making specific offerings to help reach the required deposit of $575,000.

If you have been here for any length of time, you know that at Life Church we don’t pass an offering plate. Neither do we get in front of people and beg for money. We believe that if the church is loving God and loving people great things will happen. A church that develops devoted followers of Jesus will be a people who joyfully give of their time, talents and treasure to build His kingdom.

A permanent home for Life Church Calvert is necessary for a growing church, and we believe that the time to build is NOW!

Our average attendance so far this year has been 166 people per week, with 287 people worshiping with us in a school gymnasium on Easter Sunday! Just imagine the ministry possibilities when we are in our own facilities!

In order to see our new facility constructed in 2018, it’s going to take all of us getting on board and “Building Life Together”.

In the coming weeks we will be sharing with you more of the details about how you can get on board with a good faith pledge and help Life Church firmly lay hold of this great opportunity to build a home for us, so we can minister in greater ways to this community and beyond.

We invite you to visit our dedicated website for this project at building.lifechurchcalvert.com.

Nothing of any good is accomplished apart from seeking God and being obedient to Him. He is the Head and Master Builder of the church.

We ask today that you pray for your pastors and their families, for our ministry team leaders, and for those serving on our Campus Development Team.

Please also pray for direction regarding how God wants you to serve and how He wants to use you to help Life Church secure necessary funding to begin construction of our new home in 2018.

Thank you and God bless you.
